Ankit Hinsu is a Postdoctoral research fellow in Androniki Psifidi’s group at the Royal Veterinary College.

Ankit did his Bachelor’s and Master’s in Technology in Biotechnology from Amity University, India. He started his research career working as a researcher in Animal Biotechnology department at Anand Agricultural University. He then completed his PhD in Biotechnology from Saurashtra University, India. His doctoral work focused on characterizing the structure of the rhizosphere microbiome (the community of microorganisms surrounding plant roots) of peanut plants. In late 2022, Ankit joined the Psifidi group at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) under the One Health Poultry Hub project. Here, his research investigates the genomic associations between chickens and their gut microbiota. He is currently involved in a BBSRC-funded project studying the molecular etiopathology of the infectious bovine digital dermatitis disease. He studies the multi-omics datasets associated with the disease. Throughout his career, Ankit has developed extensive expertise in next-generation sequencing (NGS) platforms. He is highly skilled in generating and analyzing NGS data, with a particular interest in the analysis of Omics data, especially Metagenomics and Genomics.
