Dr Dagmar Berner
Department: Clinical Science and Services
Campus: Hawkshead
Clinical Groups: Equine Diagnostic Imaging
Dagmar is a senior lecturer in Equine Diagnostic Imaging.
After graduating from the University of Leipzig Dagmar finished her residency in diagnostic imaging in 2015. She worked at the University in Vienna before joining the equine diagnostic imaging of the RVC in 2017, where she works as a lecturer in large animal diagnostic imaging and became a senior lecturer in 2022. Dagmar holds the Diplomate of the ECVDI and a DrMedVet. After work she enjoys walking (and cuddling) her dog.
Dagmar's research interests are diagnostic imaging of orthopaedic diseases in the equine distal limb with different modalities.

Dagmar enjoys teaching at all levels, from undergraduate veterinary students through to post-graduate clinical training scholars (residents and interns). She is the leader of diagnostic imaging core and tracking rotation and the programme director of the Equine Diagnostic imaging residency (ECVDI) programme of the RVC.
Dagmar is one of the equine diagnostic imaging specialist in the Equine Referral Hospital. She enjoys all modalities of the RVC but her particular interests are MRI of the distal limb and CT examinations of heads.

Back movement in the horse: what is normal in relation to age, breed and use?
This study aims to provide fundamental data on the association between equine movement asymmetry and back movement in relation to age, breed and use.
The results will be relevant to equine clinicians, farriers, physiotherapists and other equine paraprofessionals, owners and sports/working horse associations.
