Ivo is a postdoctoral research fellow contributing to ethnographically understanding risks of zoonotic disease transmission in poultry production and distribution networks across the One Health Poultry Hub’s research sites in Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.

Ivo holds a PhD in Anthropology from Maynooth University, Ireland, and prior degrees in Rural Development & Natural Resource Management (MSc) from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) and in Agriculture Ecology (BSc) from the University of Rostock, Germany. Ivo has an abiding interest in interdisciplinary research on how processes of social change intersect with the transformation of land use and agricultural production systems. His previous work has focused on the Bolivian Andes, Tamil Nadu (India), and Papua New Guinea, where he also conducted research on higher education. Ivo has also worked as consultant social expert for the Value Chain Analysis for Development (VCA4D) project of the Agrinatura alliance of universities and research centres specialised in agricultural research and capacity building for development and the European Commission.

  • Identifying Economic and Financial Drivers of Industrial Livestock Production - the Case of the Global Chicken Industry

    With integrated streams of social, economic, biological, mathematical and policy-led research, we are co-producing detailed knowledge on the biological, structural and socio-economic factors that shape networks of chicken production and distribution. The RVC-led UKRI GCRF One Health Poultry Hub brings together leading laboratory, clinical, veterinary and social scientists, as well as skilled communications experts, programme support staff and external stakeholders.
