Tim joined the RVC as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Secretary to Council in December 2024. As COO, Tim supports the President and Principal in operational management of the RVC, and works with Vice-Principals to help deliver the strategic aims of the three core missions: learning and student experience; research and innovation; and clinical services. He provides leadership to the Professional Services Directorate and has executive responsibility for all functions within it. As Secretary to Council, Tim advises the Chair and Principal on governance issues, helping to ensure that the RVC remains compliant with relevant legal and regulatory frameworks. He also assists Council in setting the strategic objectives for the RVC.
A chartered civil engineer by background, Tim spent the first 8 years of his career in the water industry, both in the UK and overseas. As a management consultant, he specialised in the effective management of change for a range of public and private sector clients, with a particular focus on the implementation and adoption of new technology. For the last 20 years Tim has held a number of senior leadership positions in the public sector, including Director of Strategy for Criminal Justice, IT Director for the UK Border Agency, Director, Change and HR for the Independent Police Complaints Commission, Chief Transformation Officer for the Valuation Office Agency and Chief Operating Officer for UK Research and Innovation. Tim believes strongly in creating sustainable change in organisations and has significant experience of devising and leading organisational transformation, driving operational performance efficiency and improvement and leading a range of professonal service functions.
