The Concordat on Openness on Animal Research in the UK, is a voluntary code of practice that commits signatory organisations to enhance their animal research communications.  Leaders in Openness are Concordat signatories who commit considerable resource and energy to following best practice, embedding openness within their organisations and making the aims of the Concordat a reality.

The RVC was originally granted Leader in Openness status in 2019.  As it is a 3 year award, we were required to reapply this year and submit evidence to show how our communication activities are still sector leading in 2022.   As part of this we publish information on our website in relation to case studies; summarised versions of our AWERB minutes; non technical summaries from current project licences as well as facts and figures in relation to animals used at the RVC.  Our application was assessed by members of the public and we were delighted to hear that we have retained our Leader in Openness status for another three years.
