On Saturday 9 May 2015 the Royal Veterinary College will be hosting our Annual Open Day, where you can meet members of the Structure and Motion Lab and find out more about how we work.

If you are considering studying at the RVC and have an interest in biomechanics, this is a chance to explore the innovative work of our Structure and Motion Team.

  • If you are curious to know why we have a research plane Professor Alan Wilson will be accompanying our Groppo Trail aircraft and discussing how this enhances research into carnivores of the southern African savannah.
  • A team of researchers specialising in evolutionary biomechanics will be displaying and discussing bone/muscle adaptations for a variety of specimens.
  • You will also be able to take part in human gait analysis by walking across force plates. These are frequently used by our researchers to develop understanding of how animals move: from dogs and cheetahs to horses and elephants.

The open day will be held at our Hawkshead Campus from 10am to 3pm. Due to the popularity of the event booking your place is compulsory. For more information on how to register please click here
