At the start of November, RCVS Knowledge hosted the second international evidence-based veterinary medicine (EBVM) network conference, Veterinary Evidence Today 2016, in Edinburgh. The programme featured an array of informative EBVM-themed lectures and workshops from renowned speakers, including VetCompass leaders Professor David Church and Dr Dan O’Neill.

Professor Church spoke about how collaborative projects involving practice research networks and academia, promote EBVM by providing robust evidence tailored to the patients and populations managed by the general practitioner.

Dr O’Neill discussed methods for reporting key research findings to various target audiences and the importance of building an effective dissemination strategy so that new evidence has maximum impact.

In the poster competition, Sarah Allen was awarded second prize for her poster titled "Generating evidence through practice-based equine health surveillance" outlining the approach being taken by the Equine VetCompass team to gather evidence on the health of horses in the UK.
