Simon is Head of Department for Pathobiology & Population Sciences (PPS) and Professor of Veterinary Anatomic Pathology. Simon is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath), board certified by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (DipACVP) and a recognised Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) Specialist in Veterinary Pathology with diagnostic and research expertise in respiratory, gatrointestinal and experimental histopathology.
Simon is a Senior Examiner for the Royal College of Pathologists and committee member (past section Chair) of the Certifying Exam Board of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP). He has previously served as President of the British Society of Veterinary Pathology (BSVP).

Simon teaches general and systems-based pathology across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including the BVetMed course and he particularly enjoys training anatomic pathology residents and preparing them for board examinations in pathology. Simon has previously served as Anatomic Pathology Residency Director, BSc Comparative Pathology Course Director and Intramural Rotation Director for Pathology. In 2020 Simon was awarded an Achievent Award by the Royal College of Pathologists for Contribuition to Education.
