Important information about your appointment
In order to keep everyone safe and reduce exposure to the novel coronavirus, we have a new temporary process for your visit.
To reduce traffic within the hospital we ask that you wait outside on foot in our car park space until the vet or nurse contacts you for contactless consults.
Please see the important instructions below;
Before you arrive;
- In line with government guidelines please ensure you wear a face covering at all times when you visit us, unless exempt or told otherwise by the team
- Ensure you have a charged mobile phone with you to use for the consultation
- Ensure we have the phone number of the phone you will have with you when you arrive
- Ensure you wear suitable outdoor clothing/warm clothing as all clients are now waiting outside our premises prior to/during appointments
- If you do not have a mobile phone, please let our team know before you attend so that alternative arrangements can be made for you by phoning 020 7387 8134 or emailing: beaumont@rvc.ac.uk
Check-in at the window by the pedestrian gate - a receptionist will be there to greet you. If nobody is at the desk or they are on the phone, please wait they will be with you as soon as possible. If you do not wait, we will not know you are here and this could result in a missed appointment.
On rare occasions our pedestrian gate may be closed during our opening hours.
Please ring the doorbell by the gate:
- You will be asked your surname and pets name over the intercom with reception
- If you do not ring the doorbell and communicate with our reception team we will not know that you have arrived for your appointment and this could result in a missed appointment
- Walk through the gate and turn left into the car park to await your appointment. There is some seating for you to use while waiting if needed.
Please wait in the designated area for consultations
- We have marked out 2 meter lines on the ground within our internal car park to help you manage social distancing while you wait
The vet or an assistant will come to collect your pet for examination inside
- Please approach the entrance walkway when called
- Please assist us with contactless handover by hooking your dogs lead on the dog park attached to the railing (our team will point this out to you) or by placing your cat carrier on the floor and stepping back for our team to collect
Have your charged mobile out and ready to receive a call
- The vet will call you on this phone to discuss your pet’s concerns
- Please ensure your phone is not on silent and that you don’t miss our call.
- The phone call will come from a phone number ending in 5000 or 333 If you do not have a mobile phone, please let reception know when you check-in so that the vet can arrange to speak with you outside
Payment
- Please bring a bank card for cashless payment
- When your pet is returned to you, the nursing assistant or vet student will also bring a cordless machine to the door to take payment at the hospital doors
If you have any mobility difficulties, please let us know so that we can make arrangements for your entry. We are working to lower our doorbell and provide a ramp into the temporary waiting area.
