Hands-on Clinical Experience - First Opinion Animal Hospital
Our first opinion animal hospital is based at the RVC Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital at our Camden Campus. The hospital offers a full range of services for dogs, cats, rabbits, reptiles, birds and other small animals, from vaccinations and neutering to medical diagnosis and life-saving operations.
Our dedicated team are committed to providing excellent care and treatment. Each member of our team has a special interest in particular fields, such as dentistry, diagnostic imaging, medicine, surgery and exotic species. This means all species receive expert treatment by genuinely interested and caring practitioners.
Veterinary Medicine students will have the opportunity to participate in all aspects of client and patient care under the supervision of experienced veterinary surgeons and registered veterinary nurses.
The practice is a leading centre for veterinary nurse training. Our Veterinary Nursing students will have the opportunity to support the nursing team in the care of animals and client services under the supervision of qualified veterinary surgeons and experienced registered nurses.

As a 3rd year Vet Nursing Student, I was able to spend 3 months at the Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital in which the staff worked tirelessly to ensure I was on target with my Nurse Practice Log, and I understood the evidence behind my actions.
I worked in many different areas of the hospital including theatre, anaesthesia, nursing clinics, in patient/surgical wards and dispensary. I would also highly recommend spending time at the Beaumont for its incredible exotics department.
Their highly skilled team were more than willing to answer every question I could think of (and there were many) about species ranging from reptiles and birds to small mammals. I can now say I have helped ultrasound a snake and train a conure!
I will never forget my time at the Beaumont and all that it taught me!
