LBIC is awarded ‘Outstanding Contribution to Life Sciences’ at the One Nucleus Annual Awards 2025
The RVC are delighted to see the London BioScience Innovation Centre (LBIC) honoured as the recipient of this years ‘Outstanding Contribution to Life Sciences’ award, received at The One Nucleus Annual Awards 2025 on Tuesday 27th March 2025.
Held at No.11 Cavendish Square, London and now in its second year, the well-respected One Nucleus Annual Awards showcase and celebrate all aspects of life science innovation and its valuable contribution to improving patient outcomes.
Established in 2000, LBIC was created to address the acute shortage of lab space for life sciences in central London. A key part of the London Development Agency’s strategy for life sciences, the objective was to advance a commercial life sciences cluster around the capital’s world-class knowledge base. Owned by the RVC, and with facilities co-located, LBIC offers their community access to top-tier research, biological support services, cutting-edge equipment and skilled bioscience graduates.
LBIC is extremely proud of their achievement over the past 25 years; they have supported over 228 companies and created over 5000 jobs amongst those companies. Between them the companies have raised over £2.5B of investment, and 27 companies have either floated or achieved a successful merger & acquisition. This is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the LBIC team, both past and present.

Tony Jones, CEO, One Nucleus, said:
“It was a privilege and an honour to recognise LBIC’s impact on the Life Sciences sector generally and London in particular over the past 25 years. As the first bioscience innovation centre in London when it opened, LBIC served to catalyse confidence in bioentrepreneurs that it was feasible to start and grow a life science company in the UK’s capital, a mindset shift that has subsequently led to a now burgeoning London Life Sciences scene.’
Dr Rich Ferrie, CEO, LBIC, commented:
“We are delighted that One Nucleus has recognised LBIC’s pivotal contribution to the development of the Life Science sector in London over the last 25 years. It was an honour to receive this award on behalf of all LBIC colleagues, past and present, and I feel privileged to be leading LBIC as we look forward to the next 25 years of successful bioinnovation as we expand into our amazing new Apex facility.”
