RVC launches new Work Experience Support Programme for BVetMed applicants
The RVC is offering a new programme of work experience opportunities to give people from underrepresented backgrounds, as identified in our Access and Participation Plan, who have been unable to fulfil our work experience requirements, the opportunity to gain the necessary experience to join our BVetMed degree.
Those successful in joining the programme will be exempt from meeting our work experience requirements when applying to our BVetMed, Intercalated or Accelerated BVetMed courses, as the programme's completion will be considered fulfilling these requirements.
The programme is only open to those who will be applying to the RVC via UCAS in October 2024.
What to expect:
- Spend time at our clinical facilities and farm
- Observe practice and handle a variety of species
- Receive online and in-person support to assist your interview preparation
- Successful applicants are guaranteed and interview BVetMed / Intercalated / Accelerated courses
When is it?
Students must initially attend one of the following weeks:
- Monday 21st October - Friday 25th October 2024
- Monday 28th October - Friday 1st November 2024
- Monday 17th February - Friday 21st February 2024
Following an offer to study with us you must then commit to additional placement days.
How can I apply?
You must meet ALL of the following criteria:
- Be a UK/Irish National resident in the UK or have settled status in the UK
- Be submitting a UCAS application to either our BVetMed/Intercalated/Accelerated courses by 15th October 2024
- Already have completed 35 hours work experience (but not 140 hours)
- Already met/predicted to meet the course academic entry requirements
And be ONE of the following:
- Under 21 when you join the course, attended funded school, and received free meals during secondary education
- Asian or Asian British; Black, Black British, Caribbean or African; Mixed or multiple ethnic groups; of the Other ethnic group
