Professor Daniel Chan, Dr Rosanne Jepson and Dr Kim Stevens represented the Royal Veterinary College at the inaugural Cutaneous and Renal Glomerular Vasculopathy (CRGV) Focus Group held in Reading on 10th May aiming to solve the mysteries of this deadly canine disease. More commonly known as New Forest Syndrome or Alabama Rot, CRGV can lead to skin wounds, kidney failure, and, in many cases, death.

UK experts from both veterinary and human medicine, as well as epidemiologists, and pathologists met to review the current status of this disease first reported in the UK in 2012.
They discussed the latest developments in the investigation of this mysterious disease and planned the next steps in the mission to unravel this disease. In the coming months, the group plans to organise collaborative efforts and push forward with further research to identify the cause and hopefully develop treatment options for CRGV.
