The Royal Veterinary College has an international reputation for excellence in teaching and research and is committed to developing its scientific researchers. 

The highest standards of research informs clinical practice, government policy and teaching in the veterinary and biological sciences and the RVC is committed to helping individual researchers develop, both personally and professionally.

In support of this, the College has created a Concordat Code of Practice and Guide, demonstrating our commitment to the provision of effective support for research staff and their chosen career paths. The Code and Guide encourage individuals to take responsibility for their own career development and to follow the principles set out by VITAE - an organisation that champions the personal, professional and career development of doctoral researchers and research staff in higher education institutions and research institutes.

The RVC has been recognised by the European Commission for its 'HR excellence in research'. This award recognises the positive steps that the College has taken and continues to take to support researchers' career development and the actions in place to implement the principles of the Concordat to Support the Development of Researchers.
