The space and facilities at our hospital are outstanding. We are a fully accredited veterinary hospital under the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) Practice Standards Scheme and as part of a world-leading veterinary school we know how important it is to use the best available veterinary technology and equipment.

Waiting rooms

Our specially designed reception has separate waiting rooms for cats, dogs and exotics to ensure your pet can settle and relax before seeing the vet or veterinary nurse. All of our client areas are wheelchair accessible and the waiting room has a client toilet that is accessible for all.

Consulting rooms

All consulting rooms are air conditioned and fitted with hearing loops. Seating is available for clients. Most pets are examined on the examination tables which are available in every room, but larger dogs may be examined on the floor. Pet treats are on hand to ensure your pet enjoys visiting the vet!

Wards

Our hospital has completely separate wards for cats, dogs, small mammals, ferrets and reptiles/birds. Each ward is specially designed for that species and each pet has their own private space to rest in. Our devoted team of ward nurses provide dedicated care for every patient, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, under the direction of our experienced veterinary surgeons.

A completely separate isolation unit is available so that pets with contagious illness can be cared for without compromising the safety of other patients.

Surgery

Our surgical suite boasts four spacious and well-equipped operating theatres, a dedicated induction area (where pets are carefully given their anaesthetic), and its own day wards for patients to recover peacefully from their procedures. The surgical suite is maintained as a dedicated sterile area, which may only be entered by staff wearing specific theatre dress. Positive pressure ventilation is used to ensure the highest standards of sterility.  Each theatre benefits from full monitoring and anaesthetic equipment.

Diagnostic imaging

The practice has general and dental Xray; ultrasound; endoscopy; and laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery equipment. These facilities are used to look at the inside of the body to help our vets diagnose illness or pregnancy.

Laboratory

Our hospital has its own in-house laboratory for analysing routine blood, skin and urine samples rapidly on-site. For more complex tests we are able to send blood, urine and tissue samples to external laboratories such as the specialist diagnostic laboratory at at our sister site, the Queen Mother Hospital. Results are always reported back to your pet's usual veterinary surgeon at the Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital.
