Afternoon Anatomy for Schools

This one-day activity is designed for Year 11–12 students who are interested in studying Biological Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, or Veterinary Nursing at university. Held at our Camden Campus in London, the day begins with a warm welcome and an introductory talk from our staff, offering insight into what it’s like to study at a world-leading veterinary institution. Students then take part in a guided campus tour, providing a first-hand look at our university facilities and student life. The day continues with:
• A laboratory session focused on microscopy, where students build confidence using different magnifications and preparing slides — key skills linked to school science curricula and practical assessments.
• A guided rat dissection, offering an opportunity to explore mammalian internal anatomy and reinforce understanding of organ systems and biological organisation.
Together, these sessions provide an engaging, hands-on experience that supports both theoretical learning and practical skills development.

Eligibility
To apply, schools must be non-selective state schools and meet some Widening Participation criteria. This includes having 20% or more pupils eligible for Free School Meals, 30%+ students from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, or low progression rates to higher education.
