This specially designed activity is ideal for Year 9–10 pupils who are beginning to explore future pathways in Biological Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, or Veterinary Nursing. Hosted at the Royal Veterinary College’s London Campus, the day offers a valuable insight into the world of animal health, science, and higher education. The experience begins with a warm welcome and an introductory talk from RVC staff, helping students understand what studying at a leading veterinary institution involves. This is followed by a guided tour of the campus, giving pupils a real sense of university life and the facilities available to students at the RVC. The next stage of the visit is the hands-on medical and physiological activity circus, where students rotate through a series of interactive stations. These practical, engaging sessions are designed to give pupils a deeper understanding of animal physiology and veterinary practices in a university setting. This trip is an ideal enrichment opportunity for students, it will provide meaningful context to classroom learning, helps to raise aspirations and build confidence, especially for those considering careers in science, veterinary medicine, or healthcare.

This specially designed activity is ideal for Year 11–12 pupils who are aiming to study pathways in Biological Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, or Veterinary Nursing. Hosted at the Royal Veterinary College’s London Campus, the experience begins with a warm welcome and an introductory talk from RVC staff, helping students understand what studying at a leading veterinary institution involves. This is followed by a guided tour of the campus, giving pupils a real sense of university life and the facilities available to students at the RVC. They will then complete a laboratory session  with hands-on microscope activities that develop students’ microscopy skills, helping them gain confidence in using different magnifications and preparing slides — key competencies assessed in practical exams. This is followed by a guided rat dissection, which offers a valuable opportunity to explore the internal anatomy of a mammal, reinforcing their understanding of organ systems and how they are organised within the body. Together, these activities provide an engaging and curriculum-aligned experience that supports both theoretical knowledge and practical skills development

*The RVC is dedicated to being an organisation in which equity, diversity and inclusion underpin all that we do.   Eligibility for this event is targeted to support under-represented individuals, as we believe students from every background should be able to access advice, guidance and support in order to help them progress to and benefit from the transformative experience of higher education.   For more information on our commitment to improve equality of opportunity for under-represented groups please read our Access & Participation Plan (APP).
